Physician Bios

Derrece Reid, M.D.


Derrece Reid, MD is a neurologist with an interest in the treatment of neuromuscular disorders.

Dr. Reid received her medical degree from the Howard University College of Medicine in Washington D.C., and her undergraduate degree from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. She completed both her neurology residency and a neuromuscular fellowship at the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. From July, 2015 to July, 2019, Dr. Reid was an Assistant Professor of Neurology at the Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY.

Dr. Reid specializes in the diagnosis and management of a range of conditions, including neuromuscular junction disorders (i.e. myasthenia gravis), motor neuron disease (i.e. ALS), and muscular dystrophy (i.e. Duchenne’s). In addition, she performs EMGs, and genetic testing when appropriate.

As a former instructor at an academic institution, she enjoyed teaching medical students and residents in the hospital and clinic settings. In the private practice setting as a member of the clinical team at SpineCare Long Island, Dr. Reid is committed to providing education and resources about neurology and neuromuscular disorders for the community, and values intercommunication with her patients. Dr. Reid is a member of the American Academy of Neurology and the American Association of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic Medicine.
